Terms of Service

The deal between you and Porphy — written to be read, not to be skipped.

These terms govern your use of Porphy. They are deliberately short and specific. Where something is genuinely a legal requirement we say so; where it's our own rule, we explain why.

01The agreement

By creating an account or using Porphy, you agree to these terms. If you are using Porphy on behalf of a school or company, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

02Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account. That means:

  • Keep your password to yourself; one account is one person.
  • You must be 13 or older to hold an account.
  • Tell us promptly at security@porphy.app if you suspect unauthorised access.

03Acceptable use

Don't do these things. We will suspend accounts that do:

  • Scraping, reselling or redistributing generated courses as your own product.
  • Automated access outside our documented API, or circumventing rate limits.
  • Generating content that is illegal, that harasses someone, or that is designed to deceive (fake credentials, academic fraud for-hire, malware).
  • Reverse-engineering the service or probing it for exploits.

04What the AI is (and isn't)

Porphy generates educational material with AI. It cites its sources and cross-checks claims, but it can still be wrong or out of date. Verify anything that matters.

Porphy is a study tool. It is not medical, legal, or financial advice — including anything it says about trading.

Course content is generated for you, not licensed to you exclusively: another user asking the same question may receive similar material.

05Your content

Notes, highlights and anything else you write stay yours. You grant us the limited licence needed to store and display them back to you, and to process them so the tutor has context.

We do not claim ownership of your notes, and we do not train models on your private content unless you opt in. See the Privacy Policy.

06Plans and billing

  • Porphy is prepaid, not subscribed. You buy credits and spend them as you use AI features. There is no recurring charge and nothing renews on its own.
  • New accounts receive a one-off grant of free credits. Credits do not expire and are not transferable between accounts.
  • Usage is metered per model call against the provider's list price. Your usage page itemises what each run cost.
  • Top-ups are one-time purchases, in USD via card or in BDT via SSLCommerz (bKash and local cards). Credits are granted once the payment provider confirms settlement.
  • Free accounts run a reduced pipeline (fewer web searches per topic, fewer lesson modules, no generated visualizations) and lower request limits.
  • Credit rates may change with 30 days' notice; the change never applies to credits you have already bought.

07Refunds

If Porphy was unusable due to a fault on our side, email us within 14 days of the charge and we will refund that top-up in full — no argument. Outside that, purchased credits are non-refundable, but nothing recurs: stop topping up and you are never charged again.

08Availability

We aim for high availability but we do not promise it. Maintenance, model-provider outages and force majeure happen. Course generation times and published per-feature credit estimates are indications, not guarantees.

09Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Porphy is provided “as is”, and our total liability to you is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — including exam results, trading losses, or lost profits.

10Ending it

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, and will tell you why unless doing so would be unlawful or unsafe. On termination, the licences above end and your data is deleted per the retention schedule in the Privacy Policy.

11Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes are announced by email and in-app at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use Porphy after that means you accept the new terms. Questions? Use the contact page.
